Audience demographics for any artist: the five Spotify cities, and age and gender where Meta reports it

Audience demographics in Opah are the figures the platforms publish, never estimates: for any artist, the five cities Spotify names with listeners in each, read every 24 hours; for any Meta ad delivered in the EU or the UK, Meta’s own reach by country, age band and gender; and for a smart link you own, the country, region and city of every visit.

$0.99 a month for your first 3 months on Opah Core, then $19. Cancel any time. Chartmetric is $60 a month for 10 artists; Opah is $19 for 3 or $39 for 10.

Top Spotify cities across one 5-artist niche, artists anonymised: how many of the five have listeners in each city. Melbourne is heard by 4 of the 4 artists one of them studies, and not by that artist: a market opening.

Five cities per artist, read across a niche

Spotify names five cities per artist. One is thin; five artists’ fives are a map. In this 5-artist niche every artist has measurable listeners in Sydney (589,039 between them) and only one in Los Angeles, which is where a first budget would have gone by habit. That gap is the Markets read, and the city the others share and one artist lacks is a market opening.

Age and gender come from one place: the EU and UK delivery data Meta attaches to an ad. When an artist in the niche runs an ad there, Opah keeps the reach by country, age band and gender per ad, so a niche’s paid audience in those markets has a shape.

How to read it

Use the cities to decide where to point a first budget or a first show: the city most of the niche shares and you do not is the test. Use the EU and UK data to see which countries and age bands the niche pays to reach when it advertises there. Use your own smart links to find out where your fans are, city by city, from the clicks they make.

In the Niche Playbook the three come together: the audience map, the top cities table, the Markets board and the Market Affinity matrix, which sets each city’s share of each artist’s listeners against the roster.

How to read these numbers

Delivery is not the audience
Reach by age and gender says who Meta showed an ad to, within the artist's targeting, not who listens.

The other half: the markets the cities name

Cities are the input. Market affinity is the read: each city’s share of each artist’s listeners against the whole roster, the 28-day change, and which peers are active there, so a city is named an opening, contested or emerging rather than just listed.

Questions

More on the FAQ.

Can I see where another artist's listeners are?
The five cities Spotify names for the artist, with listeners in each, read every 24 hours. Across a niche the five per artist become a map of where the niche is heard and which cities are openings. Opah's list price starts at $19 a month for 3 artists.
Can I see the age and gender of another artist's audience?
Only where Meta reports it. For an ad delivered in the EU or the UK, Meta attaches reach by country, by age band and by gender, and Opah keeps it per ad; a block under 100 people is treated as spill-over and not shown. For ads delivered elsewhere, and for Instagram, TikTok and YouTube followers, no platform exposes age or gender for another account, and Opah shows none.
Does Opah estimate demographics?
No. Every demographic figure in Opah is one a platform published: Spotify's cities, Meta's EU and UK delivery data, or the country, region and city of visits to a smart link you own. Nothing is modelled or inferred.
Where do the first-party figures come from?
From your own smart links. Every view and click on an Opah link page is logged with its country, region and city from the request, no vendor involved, so an artist's own release page builds a per-city audience read over time.
Does Spotify give a country breakdown?
No. Spotify names five cities per artist and no country total, so Opah plots cities and never adds them into a country figure.
