Spotify: what Opah reads for any artist you add, every 24 hours

For any artist you add to Opah, yours included, Opah reads Spotify once every 24 hours: the popularity score (0 to 100) for the artist and each top track, monthly listeners, followers, the world rank when Spotify assigns one, the five top cities with listeners, the top ten tracks with lifetime plays, and the releases. Each reading joins a daily series.

$0.99 a month for your first 3 months on Opah Core, then $19. Cancel any time. Chartmetric is $60 a month for 10 artists; Opah is $19 for 3 or $39 for 10.

Fan conversion, followers ÷ monthly listeners
3.61%
Low, the day listeners peaked at 45,283
2.08%
Followers across the arc
827 to 980
One independent artist, about 27K monthly listeners, June to early September. The dashed line is the day monthly listeners peaked; the ratio bottomed the same day and climbed as listeners fell back to 27,176. The release bought reach, and only this ratio says so.

Listeners, followers, and the ratio between them, day by day

Monthly listeners is Spotify’s 28-day unique count and follows a release up and back down. Followers moves slowly. The ratio of the two, fan conversion, is the number neither shows alone: this independent artist’s release took listeners to 45,283 and conversion down to 2.08%, then listeners fell back and conversion climbed to 3.61%. The chart caption says the rest.

Opah keeps every Spotify number as a daily series. A release, a playlist or a show then reads as a shape, not a before and after.

How it reads in the Niche Playbook

The same fields, read across the artists you study.

Spotify publishes no bands for the popularity score, so one shared axis across the niche is the only benchmark. The five cities per artist become the audience map and the Markets read: where the niche is heard, which cities are openings. The top tracks become plays per listener, the depth of each artist’s catalogue. Related artists become Reach and overlap, the peers every artist in the niche shares.

“The popularity of the artist. The value will be between 0 and 100, with 100 being the most popular. The artist's popularity is calculated from the popularity of all the artist's tracks.”

How to read these numbers

Popularity lags by days
Spotify's own words: "the popularity value may lag actual popularity by a few days: the value is not updated in real time." A release shows in the score after it shows in the streams.
Listeners is a window
Monthly listeners counts unique people over 28 days, so a spike fades with the window whether or not the fans stayed. Read it with followers.

The other half: the ads and posts that moved it

A Spotify number moves after a release, a show or an ad. Opah keeps every Meta ad the same artist runs, dated, beside the series, and the posts on Instagram, TikTok and YouTube. A listener peak can be read against what started the week before.

Questions

More on the FAQ.

How do I see Spotify stats for an artist that is not mine?
Add the artist to Opah by name. From the same day it reads the popularity score, monthly listeners, followers, top cities and top tracks every 24 hours and keeps the series. Nothing is connected and the artist is never contacted. Opah's list price starts at $19 a month for 3 artists.
Which Spotify numbers does Opah show that Spotify for Artists does not?
The 0 to 100 popularity score, for the artist and for each of the top tracks, and the world rank for the few artists Spotify assigns one. Spotify for Artists reports listeners, followers, saves and release engagement for your own artist; it does not show the score.
Is anything connected or logged into?
No. You add an artist by name and Opah reads Spotify once every 24 hours from then on. The artist is never contacted and no account of yours or theirs is linked.
Does Opah track playlists?
Yes, as a snapshot: the playlists featuring the artist and the ones listeners discover them on, read with the rest of the profile. It does not alert you when a playlist adds or drops a track, track a position, or help you pitch.
Does Opah show streams per track?
Yes, for the top ten tracks: lifetime plays for each, read daily, so the change between two readings is the plays the track gained. Spotify does not expose the whole catalogue's play counts, so the top ten is the catalogue Opah reads.
